Q. Tell us about yourself.
A. I’m a proud Navy brat with tours in Norfolk and Northern Virginia. I’m also a Hokie and went back to Northern Virginia after college. I did a quick few years marketing on the client side in Pittsburgh, and then headed to Cleveland to found the Mitchell Allen Group, a marketing agency. Go Browns! I’m an IPA freak. My favorite breweries are Commonwealth and Veil. I enjoy working out, golf and gardening

Q. What do you do?
A. I’m Immediate Past President AMA Hampton Roads, and a Partner+Client Strategy Director, at Mitchell Allen Group. I provide executive marketing leadership to businesses with an in-house marketing department or without full-time staff. I’m an outsourced “Fractional CMO” who develops marketing planning and strategies. Solutions depend on the strategy and range from social, digital, and creative messaging. In early 2018, I decided to dig into my marketing talents to launch BOJUart, an original contemporary fine art studio gallery representing local, regional, statewide and national artists. It’s a natural extension of my love for creative thinking and desire to nourish artists’ sustainability.

Q. Why Marketing?
A. I fell into marketing early in my career as a soft goods and hard goods retail buyer developing marketing and sales plans for over 12 departments. In that role, I served as the “account executive” to the in-house advertising department representing the pricing and promotional strategies for their execution. I am a marketing geek. I love to solve business challenges through savvy brand strategies.

Q. Why AMA?
A. I have always been passionate about giving back to our industry. My first AMA chapter relationship was with AMA Cleveland. I had found a “my tribe” of like-minded, bright marketers. When my work travel took me to Virginia, I joined AMA Richmond and AMA Hampton Roads, to jump into these communities of marketers. When I relocated my residence to Virginia Beach, I started actively volunteering for AMA Hampton Roads as the Special Interest Groups (Roundtables) Chair, bringing my experience from AMA Cleveland and AMA Richmond. My last two years as AMA Hampton Roads President has been an incredibly rewarding experience. I’m confident in our new leadership and very excited about our Chapter’s journey and future growth.

Q. Best local place we should know about?
A. I’d say that you just can’t have more chill and view in Virginia Beach than to hang out at the Back Deck. (dogs allowed)
